BSDRadius published under open source |
|
Monday, 03 April 2006 |
BSDRadius, (www.bsdradius.org) , the core AAA element of Data Tech Labs Billing Manager is released to open source under BSD license. "...We believe in concept of opensource, that it can create better software within shorter time frame. It adds far more programming capacity than one company can contribute to the project... " - says Valts Mazurs, Chief Development Officer of Data Tech Labs. BSDRadius is RADIUS server targeted for use in Voice over IP (VoIP) applications. While there are quite large number of Radius servers (including free) available in the world, little number of them (if any) are developed with VoIP specific needs in mind. Typical VoIP RADIUS server should be able to take high amount of AAA requests in short time periods, handle large databases, and respond timely to prevent time-outs and request retransmission cases. Most commonly used VoIP protocols (SIP and H.323) use small number of Authentication methods (e.g. CHAP and Digest), and this can allow reduce processing overhead and code size of server.

Major release 1.5 of ArrowBilling |
|
This is the first official release of new 1.5 series of DataTechLabs ArrowBilling. The most notable feature is that it has support for alternate Radius sever, BSDRadius, while keeping support for Freeradius. BSDRadius was designed with VoIP in mind, and we will gradually start to phase out Freeradius in favor of BSDRadius. |
